About the Role

This is a fantastic 1-3 month contract opportunity for an environmental scientist to contribute to critical water quality and ecosystem health initiatives. You will play a key role in monitoring environmental data, assessing water quality, and ensuring regulatory compliance to protect natural water systems and public health.
As the Environmental Scientific Reporting and Data Analyst, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting environmental and water quality monitoring to assess compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Managing and analysing large datasets related to water quality, environmental impact, and ecosystem health.
  • Preparing scientific reports and regulatory submissions to support environmental management decisions.
  • Providing technical expertise during environmental investigations and water quality incidents.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including environmental agencies, researchers, and water management teams.
  • Supporting data management systems such as WISKI, Hydrotel, and LIMS to track environmental and water quality trends.
  • Assisting in the response to notifiable water quality results and identifying mitigation strategies.

About You

To excel in this role, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Water Science, or a related discipline with a strong focus on water quality and ecosystem health.
  • A solid understanding of environmental monitoring, Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Experience in environmental data analysis, particularly within time-series databases, LIMS, or similar platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in data manipulation and analysis tools such as MS Excel, SQL, or other querying software.
  • Analytical skills to interpret environmental data trends, identify risks, and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills to collaborate with environmental agencies, scientists, and operational teams.
