The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to be part of an organisation dedicated to leading Australias clean energy transition, building the energy super-highways and enabling nation-building renewable energy projects that will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. 

Transgrid is delivering the Federal and State Government’s vision for a clean energy future, building the transmission super-highway which will transform the energy supply for millions of Australians. New renewable generation is being built across the eastern seaboard and will connect to the grid to get that electricity to market.

Our major projects are a priority for Governments and for the nation. The integration of renewables will secure and strengthen the electricity network and enable greater sharing between NSW, ACT, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland.

As Environmental Business Partner you will be responsible for:

  • Delivering and completing environmental assurance activities required for Transgrids programs of work affiliated with HumeLink
  • Developing and delivering high quality and timely environmental compliance documentation and approvals.
  • Assisting the Environment and Sustainability Manager in managing consultancies/contractors engaged by Transgrid to meet project requirements.
  • Supporting the Senior Environmental Business Partners in their environmental management and sustainability roles.
  • Engaging and interfacing with Delivery Partners in the environmental management of the delivery of the project.
  • Developing and implementing environmental practices and procedures to deliver best practice management of Transgrids environmental approval and legislative obligations.
  • Providing environmental management advice.
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, communities, and government entities, to deliver timely and efficient advice and information.

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification at degree level in an environmental science/engineering/management related discipline or equivalent.
  • Experience reviewing technical studies, reports, management plans, and interpreting drawings and designs to understand environmental impacts and management measures for implementation.
  • Understanding and demonstrated experience in the use of geographic information systems related to environmental planning and management is desirable.
  • Understanding of the environmental and social aspects and impacts of large infrastructure projects including electricity supply projects.
  • Broad understanding of the IS Rating Scheme.
  • Experience in the environmental management and delivery of State Significant Infrastructure (SSI) / Major Projects.
  • Experience in the management of contracted environmental specialist services.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to self-manage, work under pressure and work in a team environment.
  • A current drivers licence.
  • The position holder will need to be prepared to travel within the state of NSW (and potentially interstate) to attend site meetings and/or carry out inspection/checking activities on the projects various sites. In some instances, this will involve staying at regional locations within NSW.
