Northern Star has a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an Environmental Advisor reporting to the Senior Environmental Advisor. This is a residential position based at our KCGM Operations in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, working an 8:6 roster 11 hours per day.
Heres what awaits you:
- Ensure routine environmental compliance monitoring and reporting activities are completed and submitted on time.
- Assist in the review and ongoing maintenance of the sites Environmental Management System, including the legal obligations register.
- Coordinate, supervise and manage contractors or consultants engaged to do work for the Environment Team.
- Collate required environmental data and maintain monitoring databases, records and schedules.
- Analyse and interpret monitoring data and identify trends.
- Contribute to the development and execution of the Teams objectives, targets and plans.
- Ensure environmental management plans and procedures are implemented, and associated monitoring programs are conducted.
- Share the on-call responsibility with other team members.
- Consult and liaise with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in the development of licence/permit/approval applications, as required.
- Assist with environmental incident investigations and follow-up on corrective actions with the respective departments.
- Participate in external events and community-based activities to support Northern Stars Community Investment Program.
- Participate in sustainability projects and business improvements.
To thrive in this role, youll need:
- Minimum two (2) years relevant experience in the mining/resources industry.
- Bachelors Degree majoring in an Environment related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution.
- Current C Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.
- Good understanding of environment, mining and heritage legislation in WA.
- Knowledge of environmental impacts and controls associated with a mining operation.
- Good understanding of Environmental Management Systems (ISO) and auditing processes.
- Experience with GIS, preferably ArcGIS Pro, and other database management programs such as SharePoint and Power BI.
- Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, with the ability to multi-task effectively in a dynamic and outcome focused environment.
