Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for an Engineering Manager in Canberra, ACT to work on Maritime SATCOM sustainment projects.
What Youll Do
This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:
- Support the planning and execution of sustainment schedules for Maritime SATCOM products including MASTIS, GX100 and Fleet Broadband
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment across engineering, project, and capability functions
- Provide technical guidance and input to capability, project and product managers
- Support technical certification activities, including ICT Security requirements
- Lead engineering governance activities including engineering investigations, ECP development/review, SSWGs and CCBs
What Youll Bring
- Bachelor of Engineering (or Engineers Australia recognised equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience supporting sustainment and engineering activities within complex Defence environments
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience supporting technical regulatory compliance, certification, or system safety activities
- Formal qualifications in Communications or related technology (highly desirable)
Due to the nature of the work, the successful applicant must hold and maintain an AGSVA Security Clearance, as required by the Commonwealth. In some cases, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) may also be required.
