Electrical Tradesperson

Curragh Mine is one of the largest open-cut coal mines in Queenslands Bowen Basin and located only 12 kilometres from the local township of Blackwater.

What Youll Do

We have a permanent vacancy for experienced Electrical Tradespersons at our Curragh Mine in Blackwater. Depending on your expertise, you will focus on either CHPP Maintenance or Field Maintenance operations where you will be carrying out general maintenance, repair, break down and shut down work as well as accurately diagnosing and troubleshooting faults in breakdown conditions. This role will be working a lifestyle roster.

Youre responsibilities include but not limited to: 

  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical faults specific to your area of focus, whether in CHPP fixed plant equipment or field-based systems.
  • Responding to breakdown situations with a priority on safety and restoring operations, tailored to either the CHPP or field environment.
  • Participating in scheduled shutdowns, ensuring all necessary upgrades and maintenance are completed on time.
  • A commitment to a positive safety culture and risk awareness and identification of hazards
  • Contributing to continuous improvement efforts, optimising electrical systems within your specific area of responsibility

What Youll Bring

Key to your success will be your:

  • Proven experience working in either Coal Handling Preparation Plants (CHPP) or field maintenance operations.
  • HV Electrician/Electrical fitter/mechanic trade qualification.
  • QLD Electrical Licence.
  • Sound knowledge of PLCs and SCADA systems, which will be highly regarded.
  • Competency in LV/HV Switching.
  • A strong commitment to safety culture, with the ability to identify and manage risks effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, particularly in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical faults.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to teamwork, ensuring collaboration within your designated maintenance area.
