Distribution Leading hand – Wulkuraka

The Distribution leading hand is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of area operators and achieving distribution requirements, with Quality, EMS and WHS Policies and Procedures. The position reports to the Distribution Senior Supervisor and working relationships through the business. 

This position will start off on casual for the first 3 months.

Shift times: Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm (must be flexible with overtime)

Experience in a similar role/cold/freezer room is a must  

  

Key Responsibilities: 

• Ensure customer orders are dispatched in a condition for human consumption
• Receipt of product from external sites into the cool room.
• Handling and storage of product in the cool room to meet the requirements dispatch of all deliveries.
• Supervision of the distribution dock, forklift and pallet jack operators
• Responsible for the day-to-day supervision and supplies direction to the Distribution staff
• Adhere and ensure all staff adhere to WHS/Cor and EMS policies and Procedures
• Adhere and ensure all staff adhere to Quality policies and procedures
• Assist with improving areas such as safety, quality, CoR and Environmental performance and compliance
• Report to the Distribution senior Supervisor regarding incidents, product flow and labour requirements
• Communicate with Customer Service, Planning, QA and WHS coordinator and the QLD State Manager
• Staffing levels are maintained at appropriate levels and are adjusted up and down to meet requirements.
• Report all accident/ incident / near miss immediately to supervisor and complete all relevant incident forms.
• Actively participate in WHS related programs, including training.

  

• Ensure that PPE is work and used to perform the job safety.

Critical Skills and Experience Required  

• Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role
• Minimum 2 years experience in a cold/freezer environment
• Forklift ticket (Preferred)
• Must NOT own any birds, pigs, poultry at your residence
• Own car and license
• Ability to make quick and correct decisions “on the job”
• Ability to achieve distribution targets
• Structured leadership training including conflict resolution and problem solving
• Knowledge of quality systems, HACCP procedures and understanding of how day to day activities could impact the quality of the product and the environment
• Experience in distribution warehouse
• Quick response time & Good time management skills
• Ability to work in a pressure environment with sound judgment skills
• Good time keeping and history of reliability
• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, also basic written skills.
