We are seeking an experienced Development Assessment Engineer to join a well-regarded local council for a temporary 6-month contract, with the potential to transition into a permanent role.

About the Role


As a Development Assessment Engineer, you will be responsible for assessing low-complexity development matters, providing technical advice, and supporting infrastructure needs within the local community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advice on low-complexity development matters, including transport and stormwater infrastructure and flood hazard mitigation.
  • Conduct engineering assessments of development applications, ensuring alignment with legislative and policy requirements.
  • Prepare development application recommendations for senior officer review and decision-making.
  • Assist in coordinating the development assessment process and negotiate routine infrastructure agreements.
  • Perform site inspections and investigations to address transport and stormwater-related issues.
  • Foster a positive team culture focused on high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders to deliver quality service outcomes.

About You


You bring strong technical expertise and excellent communication skills, with experience in development assessments and compliance.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Proficient in delivering engineering assessments and ensuring compliance.
  • Strong understanding of transport and stormwater infrastructure planning, design, and construction principles.
  • Familiarity with policies such as the State Planning Policy, SEQ Regional Plan, and Adopted Infrastructure Charge Resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply relevant planning and development legislation.
  • Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Skilled in influencing and negotiating routine infrastructure and commercial agreements.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • General Induction Licence (White Card).
  • Current “C” Class Driver’s Licence.
