The Department of Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing, and Regional and Rural Development (the Department) plays a key role in delivering priorities which enable the continued prosperity, for all Queenslanders. In particular, through the productive and responsible management of the state’s land, mineral, and energy resources. The Department is seeking a Deputy Director-General to take on this exciting opportunity.
Reporting to the Director-General, as Deputy Director-General – Georesources you will play a key role in regulating the resources sector, while also supporting industry development and sector growth. Leading a team of seven direct reports and over 450 staff across the state, you will provide expert strategic advice and guidance to the Department’s Executives, the Minister and other senior stakeholders across Government and industry on matters relating to the Georesources portfolio.
You will be responsible for driving forward key strategies and reform activities to position Queensland’s largest industry, worth more than $60 billion, as an international leader in mining and resources. You will use your sector knowledge and excellent stakeholder engagement and influence capability to drive continued prosperity, for all Queenslanders, especially regional communities.
To be successful in this role you will be a proven Executive leader with significant experience within the resources sector, leading large teams of professionals with diverse skillsets. Your unique combination of industry knowledge, commercial acumen and political nous will ensure you are able to hit the ground running in enacting change. You are well-connected across both Government and industry, and your stakeholder engagement style and capability will allow you to build strong relationships with stakeholders, internal and external. You enjoy the challenge of applying a commercial lens to the sector, and can negotiate with influence.
Please note this is an SES4L role and the total remuneration package is $314,974 to $330,209 per annum, inclusive of % super, leave loading, and vehicle allowance.
