The Role:

 

Our Melbourne depot in Derrimut has a rare opening for a new Depot Manager.

 

This opportunity will see you manage a team of 125 across the site with the support of a strong and close-knit Leadership team. You will be responsible for the safe and cost-effective management of all operational and administrative activity, budgeted labour, and site maintenance requirements.

 

You will be a highly motivated with a progressive mindset and be an excellent communicator.  You will hold a track record in problem solving, be able to navigate and simplify complexity, and effectively lead by example with energy to nurture a service focused performance-based culture where all individuals act like owners.

 

Your Main Responsibilities Will Include But Not Limited To:

 

Leadership and Team Development –

  • Provide leadership and direction to the depot team.
  • Motivate employees & set appropriate individual & team performance goals.
  • Conduct performance appraisals.
  • Foster a positive work environment.

Operational & Financial Management –

  • Evaluate & maximise cost effective options and methods of operation across such areas as: Optimise efficient fleet utilisation. Utilisation of staff and resources Ensuring correct loading and unloading techniques every time to protect product from damage.
  • Prepare daily, weekly or month end reports.
  • Develop & maintain strong business relationships with current & potential customers.
  • Assist in day-to-day operations requirements as required
  • At all times, ensuring legislative requirements are met to ensure no breaches/fines

About You:


To succeed in this role, we anticipate you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Established experience in a senior leadership role ideally in the same or similar industry or existing supervisory experience with the enthusiasm to move up in your career.
  • A highly motivated, genuine and positive leadership style.
  • Exceptional customer service & interpersonal skills.
  • High level reasoning, problem solving and planning skills.
  • Professional presentation with a friendly and helpful manner with an ability to deal effectively with a diverse workforce.
