Contract Management and Subscriptions Librarian
This role is part of the Economic Group, Economic Research Department and is based in the A. S. Holmes Library, Reserve Bank of Australia.
About the team
The A.S. Holmes Library is home to a team of highly skilled information professionals and supports the operations of the Bank by collecting, curating, and delivering verifiable and accurate information to a variety of departments.
What you will do
As part of this highly regarded team, the Contract Management and Subscriptions Librarian is primarily responsible for overseeing the assessment, negotiation, and acquisition of external information resources including data services and subscriptions.
In addition, you will:
- Effectively manage complex data and subscriptions contracts through their lifecycle. This will include coordinating the negotiation, licensing and permissioning of services, as well as payments.
- Consult with stakeholders to gather requirements for data and information resources to support the Bank’s policy and research work.
- Work closely with our internal clients, vendors and the Bank’s Procurement, Finance and Legal teams to ensure efficient and accurate management of contracts and related documentation.
- Develop and implement expenditure and usage reporting related to library subscriptions.
- Liaise with team members, library users, and vendors regarding trials, renewals and management of electronic information resources.
- Categorise and distribute technical and commercial information from a wide variety of internal and external sources to meet information needs and support the operating activities of the Bank.
- Advise on compliance queries for content use.
- Build and maintain internal and external professional networks and keep track of relevant developments in the library sphere.
About you
- A university degree with postgraduate library qualifications or a bachelor’s degree in librarianship, or currently enrolled and working towards completion of equivalent qualifications, or extensive experience in a similar role is preferred.
- You will have extensive experience in contract management and acquisitions, working with internal and external stakeholders across a wide range of formats such as bibliographic databases, e-journal packages, data sets and news sources.
- Awareness of information and data governance frameworks and policy, and an understanding of licensing and contract terminology and copyright.
- Demonstrated ability to organise and manage data, information and knowledge assets using information management tools, such as library management systems and content management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work openly and dynamically within a team and foster a culture of knowledge sharing.
- Strong problem solving skills, influencing skills, curiosity, and confidence to suggest and implement initiatives.
