Job Description

Rolleston is a 16Mtpa open cut coal mine located in the southern Bowen Basin.  With a long life and low operating costs the mine continues to prosper.  We foster a culture underpinned by safety, achievement, flexibility and teamwork to improve the skills of each and every person on the mine site every day.  We are a hands-on team who all work together to meet our objectives.  No job or day is the same with us, and we never miss an opportunity to share, learn and improve. 

Reporting to the Operations Manager, your responsibilities will include provision of accurate and timely management and financial accounting information to meet mining operation and corporate requirements. You will manage the preparation of site budgets and forecasts as well as compliance with group accounting policy and procedure.  In addition, your responsibilities will also include management of the site procurement and supply function, contracts, and contract management as well the provision of the site camp and accommodation facilities. 

You will develop and maintain an environment of compliance and control in all aspects of the site commercial function and provide stewardship to the operating departments and supporting functions.

Ideally, your background will include qualifications in accounting/commerce disciplines, over five years demonstrated experience in the resource or heavy industry sector, CA/CPA qualifications (desirable), together with strong computing skills. Your strong record of achievement both academically and professionally, with a “hands-on” approach and the ability to think commercially and strategically will be highly regarded.

This is a leadership role requiring excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate and influence key stakeholders. Functionally reporting to the Financial Controller, it offers a high calibre individual the opportunity for career progression across the business.
