The Company


Our client is a tier-one infrastructure developer overseeing the delivery of a large-scale, multi-year project of significance. With construction progressing across multiple work fronts, the business is seeking a Commercial Manager to lead the day-to-day commercial and contract management of a critical stage of the development.

This role is on a 5/2 FIFO roster flying from Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne on a 2-year fixed-term contract.

For those who are open to relocation to a regional location, a relocation package can be provided.

The Role


In this client-side role, reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, you will lead commercial strategy, contract compliance, claims, negotiations, and risk mitigation efforts across a significant scope of work.

You’ll play a key leadership role, acting as the main interface between the project owner and contractors on all contractual matters from claim resolution to strategic contract performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end commercial performance across all contractual interfaces
  • Lead strategy and execution for claims, variations, and commercial negotiations
  • Ensure compliance with all contract terms and legal obligations
  • Maintain a full register of commercial correspondence, claims, and documentation
  • Provide reporting and strategic advice to senior stakeholders
  • Liaise with contractors, legal teams, and internal project leadership
  • Conduct risk assessments and support commercial decision-making
  • Identify and implement commercial process improvements

Your Background:

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in senior contract/commercial roles on major infrastructure or engineering projects (preferably for a 1st tier contractor)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management or Engineering
  • Strong working knowledge of EPC contracts and claims strategy
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage complex contract interfaces
  • Commercially strategic with a sharp eye for risk and compliance
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced site-based role with regular stakeholder engagement
