Civil Supervisor – Drainage

We are currently seeking an experienced Civil Supervisor (Drainage) for a civil project located in Gladstone.

Reporting to the Civil Superintendent the primary purpose of the role is to provide leadership and support and to ensure smooth running of daily tasks.  Extensive knowledge and experience in a civil infrastructure environment, with a focus on drainage, is highly desirable. The successful candidate will have a strong sense of initiative along with a result driven attitude in both safety and production.  This is a full-time permanent opportunity.

Key role tasks:  

• Provide supervision of crew, including managing performance and behaviour
• Contribute technical knowledge at project management meetings such that tasks are planned and executed in a safe and efficient manner
• Participate in and contribute to project planning through the 3 week look ahead process such that material resource requirements are received in advance of site requirements
• Check allocated equipment to confirm it is in sound working order and meets site requirements for certification, tagging or testing
• Participate in the creation of Work Method Statements (WMS) in advance of work requirements, such that safety and environmental considerations are effectively incorporated in the work plan
• Prepare team members for daily tasks through effective daily planning, reinforced at pre-start meetings
• Assign work tasks and supervise the work such that it is undertaken in accordance with the established plan
• Identify and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during the construction process
• Maintain accurate records, including daily reports, timesheets, and material requisitions
• Communicate regularly with clients, engineers, and other stakeholders to provide updates and address concerns

Key capability requirements:  

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Site Supervisor or in the construction industry
• Must have Cert IV in Civil Construction Supervision, Frontline Management, or Work Health and Safety (WHS)
• Strong knowledge of drainage construction methods, materials, and equipment for water and sewerage pipelines
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, Dial Before You Dig reports, long sections, and technical specifications
• Experience locating and working around underground services
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Proficient in the use of construction management software and tools
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and coordinate teams
