This position is a fixed-term, full-time appointment for five (5) years.

Health Support Services (HSS) supports the WA public health system through the provision of shared services to more than 65,000 employees across WAs public health services and hospitals. These services include:

  • Information, communication and technology (ICT)
  • Procurement and supply
  • Workforce services, including payroll, recruitment and appointment and workforce data
  • Financial services
  • Delivery of customer-driven programs and projects

Position Profile: HSS are seeking an exceptional, outcomes-focused, driven, passionate and commercially astute individual with a track record of successful leadership to take on the role of Chief Executive.

Based in Perth, the successful candidate will provide strategic direction and leadership, and be accountable for the delivery of support services primarily to the Department of Health and Health Service Providers. These services are expected to meet a high quality standard at the most efficient price, contributing directly to the delivery of excellent health care across the WA health system.

The Chief Executive oversees the HSS Leadership team to ensure they meet business objectives and contributes to the overall strategic leadership of the WA health system through participation as a member the Health Executive Committee.

Key competencies include:

  • Demonstrable track record in transformational leadership
  • Excellent commercial acumen
  • Strong operational and financial management skills within an organisation of similar complexity
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and negotiation skills
  • Ability to inspire and drive high-performing teams
  • Demonstrable analytical, strategic and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in designing and implementing business transformation programs and initiatives, with an emphasis on systems and process re-engineering, digitisation, and continuous improvement to achieve benefit realisation for clients would be beneficial.

HSS is a Board governed statutory authority that is legally responsible and accountable for the delivery of safe, high-quality, efficient and economical health services to WA.

The Chief Executive is employed by the Director General, Department of Health and reports to both the Director General and the HSS Board Chair.
