About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and self-motivated person experienced preferably in the Aged Care. The Chef is accountable for the daily operations of the kitchen and is required to guide an effective, and efficient team of food services staff and to effectively work with staff, residents and their families. The focus will be to deliver catering needs that meet nutritional and hydration needs, special requirements and preferences of our residents.
Requirements
You will hold relevant certifications and have a comprehensive understanding of Food Safety Laws and Occupational Health and Safety in a kitchen environment. You will have demonstrated experience in all facets of food preparation including managing a team, menu planning, preparation of daily meals ensuring they are fresh, well presented and appetizing. Furthermore, you will:
- Certificate IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or higher
- Food Safety Supervisor Training (Health & Community) – HLTFSE001, HLTFSE005 and HLTFSE007
- Experience working in a food services environment and in the supervision of staff
- Interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with residents, families, employees and volunteers; patience; common sense and an understanding of client service
- Commitment to work as part of a team and without supervision
- Ability to be self-motivated and to promote a positive lifestyle environment
- Well-developed prioritisation and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to operate with discretion and to maintain complete confidentiality
While aged care or disability service experience would be great, whats more important is that you want to help to make a difference to our customers and prospective customers lives.
