Who are we looking for?

Were looking for a Business Group Leader to lead our Environmental Assessment and Approvals team in Western Australia

Our Environmental Assessment and Approvals business has maintained strong growth in recent years and is currently one of the largest groups in WAOur WA Environmental Assessments and Approvals (EAA) requires a Business Group Leader in a multifaceted strategic leadership role that drives client acquisition and retention, in line with the agreed strategic business plans, and delivery for the WA Region. The key objective for the role is increased revenue and utilisation through expanded client relationships and new client acquisition that deliver sustainable profit through values-based leadership of the business group. 

Our diverse team contributes to a wide variety of projects, with a strategic focus on renewable energy, critical minerals and Defence at a regional, national and global scale. In this position, you will be overseeing the following teams: Air and Acoustic Assessments, Terrestrial Ecology, Environmental Impact Assessments and Approvals, Landscape Visual Impact Assessments, and Marine Studies. 

Working with the Operations Manager, WA leadership team and our other regional and broader national team, this diverse position is your opportunity to lead a significant Group within a global consultancy and will see you involved in: 

  • Maintaining workload for the group including preparation, review and approval of proposals
  • Leading best practice project delivery, making key technical contributions to projects and coordinating the work of team members to deliver creative solutions
  • Maintaining a manageable Project Manager and/or Project Director portfolio of utilised project work
  • Developing and achieving business plan objectives and targets and management accountability for the EAA business group
  • Training & investing in the development of team members. Holding accountability for management of the group including leading, inspiring and mentoring your team of impactful, dedicated professionals
  • Leading the strategic, technical and commercial direction of private and public projects, identifying and creating business opportunities for the team and the broader business (networking, marketing, proposals, etc.)
  • Leading the management of the Quality, HSE, IMS compliance and promotion of continuous improvement in our systems and processes

 What would you bring to the team? 

  • A relevant bachelors degree, with preferably more than 10 years professional experience
  • Proven industry experience in the environment sector and/or an engineering consultancy, with a commercial mentality and (ideally) a well-established local network
  • Engaging communication skills & strategic problem-solving capability, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external clients. A trusted advisor status within the industry, with a proven reputation
  • You have a proactive, self-directed leadership style. You are a hardworking, supportive & motivating leader able to get the best out of your team and comfortable with mentoring and technical supervisory responsibilities
  • A commitment to fostering a culture of teamwork, safety, quality and innovation
  • A broad range of experience, including exposure to both consulting and contracting would be highly regarded
