 Are you keen to kick start your Arboriculture career?

Council is currently looking for a hardworking and motivated person to join the team for a 2-year traineeship in Arboriculture!

In this role, you will be pursuing a Certificate III in Arboriculture while gaining hands-on experience. The two available traineeships will specialise in Arboriculture, with responsibilities including:

  • Assist in the safe removal of trees, including pruning of street trees and clearing debris.
  • Learn proper techniques for tree pruning and the use of chainsaws and other equipment.
  • Assist with tree maintenance including planting, tree removal, pruning, mulching, fertilising and watering
  • Learn to identify tree species, assess tree health, and evaluate potential risks.
  • Assist in inspecting trees for signs of disease, pests, or structural issues.
  • Assist with preparing the soil and selecting the appropriate tree species for the environment.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and wants to work in the Horticulture field. We’re looking for someone who has a strong work ethic and great communication skills. You’ll also be adaptable, have the ability to follow direction and work as part of a small team and want to assist in the planting and maintenance of our ‘Urban Forest’.

Interested?

To be successful in this position you must:

  • Have a demonstrated interest in Arboriculture/ Horticulture
  • Be able to successfully enrol in and complete a Certificate III in Arboriculture as part of a 2 year traineeship
  • Have a current Provisional or Class C drivers’ licence (or be able to obtain within the duration of the traineeship)
  • Have a NSW General Construction Induction (White Card) (or be able to obtain prior to commencement)
