Dugald River mine is one of the worlds top 10 Zinc mine operations, which has been producing zinc concentrate for customers around the world since .
The mine is committed to a low-carbon future. In April the Dugald River Solar Farm began operations, supplying a third of the mines power, and reducing emissions by 33% and this is just the start of its renewable energy transition.
Dugald River employs around 850 employees and contractors on a mix of fly-in, fly-out and local residential basis.
Advisor Risk and Assurance
This site-based role, reporting to the Superintendent Risk and Assurance, is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and updating the sites operational risk profile. It involves identifying hazards across operations through safety system analysis, field discussions, and audits. The role ensures that the sites risk management process aligns with industry standards and adapts to the evolving needs of the operation.
Offered on an 8/6 roster; drive in drive out (DIDO) from Cloncurry or Mt Isa or fly in fly out, (FIFO) from Townsville or Brisbane.
Qualifications, skills & competencies
- 5 years or more experience in underground hard rock mining or surface flotation processing.
- Sound understanding of risk management systems and processes in line with ISO Risk Management Standard
- Ability to think strategically and act operationally while building strong, trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the QLD Mining & Quarrying Safety and Health Act ) and Regulations ).
- Knowledge of ICMM Critical Control design guidelines and their implementation in mining operations.
- Desirable – G2 RIIRIS402E Carry out the risk management process.
- Desirable – Certificate IV in Occupational Health & Safety.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the update and maintenance of the site risk management process managing Bowtie and critical control updates – through collaboration with risk advisors, operational teams, and control/risk owners.
- Supporting and tracking the verification activities required from the critical control designs.
- Conduct quality assurance of the risk management process through field engagement, task alignment, and review of risk documentation and procedures.
- Communicate the risk management process across the site, to ensure all levels of work understand the critical control/s related to their specific tasks.
