Apprenticeships

All apprenticeship roles are four-year programs which combine structured nationally recognised training with on-the-job experience.

Powerline Workers: Are responsible for building and maintaining the poles and wires that deliver electricity to our customers. Powerline Worker apprenticeships will be offered in the following locations:

Albury, Armidale, Ballina, Balranald, Bega, Berrigan, Boorowa, Braidwood, Buronga, Casino, Cobar, Coffs Harbour, Condobolin, Coolamon, Coonamble, Cootamundra, Corowa, Crookwell, Culcairn, Deniliquin, Forbes, Goondiwindi, Goulburn, Grafton, Griffith, Inverell, Junee, Lake Cargelligo, Leeton, Lismore, Moree, Moruya, Nambucca Heads, Narrabri, Narromine, Nyngan, Oberon, Parkes, Port Macquarie, Queanbeyan, Quirindi, Tamworth, Taree, Tenterfield, Tooleybuc, Tumbarumba, Tweed Heads, Wagga Wagga, Walgett, Wellington, Wilcannia, Yass and Young.

Cable Jointers: Are responsible for the construction, installation and maintenance of underground cables and associated electrical apparatus that delivers electricity to our customers. Cable Jointer apprenticeships will be offered in the following locations:

Ballina, Dubbo, Grafton, Kempsey, Lismore, Tamworth, and Tweed Heads.

Zone Substation Electrical Technicians: Are responsible for the safe and reliable operation of high voltage switchgear, transformers and associated electrical circuits. Zone Substation Electrical Technicians will be offered in the following locations:

Coffs Harbour, Deniliquin, Dubbo, Orange, Port Macquarie, and Wagga Wagga.

Traineeships

Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Field Operations Pre-Employment Trainee program is a 12-month career start training program that focuses on providing employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women.

A combination of formal and on-the-job training provides participants with electrical skills and knowledge, development in the areas of literacy and numeracy and workplace experiences. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be offered the opportunity to progress into a full trade qualification as an Apprentice Powerline Worker. Pre-Employment traineeships will be offered in the following locations:

Condobolin, Coonamble, Nyngan, and Parkes
